Product description

Cement-based dry adhesive and basecoat render for facade insulation boards as polystyrene (EPS), extruded polystyrene (XPS) and mineral wool (MW).

Area of application

Used as an adhesive for bonding facade thermal insulation from EPS, XPS and MW and as a thin layer basecoat mortar (with reinforcing mesh) onto insulation boards.

Product benefits

Good workability

Frost resistant

For all types of insulation boards

Technical description

Bulk density (dry):1400 – 1600 kg/m3

Working time:max. 60 min.*
Sd-value (vapour diffusional resistance):max. 0,5 m
Reaction to fire:A1
Water absorption:max. 0,5 kg/m2 after 24 hours

* According to the application method and environmental conditions of application, check the water consumption on the bag for more precise information.

Cleaning

Residue of fresh product can be cleaned from the tools and surfaces with water. Hardened product must be removed only mechanically.

Product limitations

Thermal insulation adhesive cannot be used in the following situations:

  • With wooden and metal surfaces
  • With insufficiently supported surfaces
  • At temperatures for storage, transport, application and drying lower than +5˚C and higher than +25˚C
  • As finishing layer within facade systems
  • With surfaces containing impurities and moisture

Preparation and application

Base preparation

Substrates must be dry, clean, solid, stable, free of frost and without parts falling off. Residue of old paint, plaster and substances that reduce adhesion (oil, dust, salts and other impurities) should be fully removed. In case the base is exposed to moisture, it is necessary to repair the damage causing moisture first or install the insulation layer. For ETICS fixed to the substrate with adhesive mortar and anchors, the maximum deviation from flatness is 20 mm/m. Larger unevenness should be levelled with a separate layer of lime-cement plaster. Levelling of the surface with adhesive mortar is not allowed. Concrete surfaces, cement and limestone-based plasters must be minimum 28 days old with moisture residue ≤ 2%. Strong absorbing surfaces (for example gas-concrete), old plasters and bricks, old mineral facades should be covered with deeply penetrating primer. New and clean surfaces from brick products (full brick, block) should not be treated with primer.
If in doubt about the quality of the substrate, check its properties before starting work.

Product preparation and installation

  1. Mixing:
Sprinkle the 25 kg of dry powder into approx. 6 l of clean water, mix with electric mixer to a lump-free, creamy, and homogeneous consistency. Leave to stand for ca. 5 minutes and remix once more. Working time max. 1 hour maximum. Material which has started to set must not be remixed with water. Mixing with other products (e.g. anti-freezeor accelerating agents) is not permitted.
  2. Adhesive application for bonding insulation board:
Apply the adhesion on the back side of the insulation board - in strips to the edges of the board and in 2 - 3 dots in the middle (at least 40 % of the surface of the boards has to be bonded with the adhesive mortar to the substrate). Mineral wool lamella boards require a full application of adhesive mortar!
Thermal insulation boards are bonded to the substrate by pressing. Properly applied adhesive mortar must not remain on the lateral surfaces of the thermal insulation boards after application, they must remain clean, free of adhesive mortar!
See the Weber Guidelines and norms for ETICS.
  3. Basecoat and reinforcement:
Prior to the reinforcement of the entire surface, perform corner reinforcements around all openings on the facade, Afterwards, set required skirting for edge strengthening (PVC corner skirting, contact skirting, end profiles, etc.).
The mortar is applied to the thermal insulation with jagged stainless-steel trowel with minimum teeth depth of 8 mm in one stroke. Softly press the EnveoTherm reinforcement mesh into the freshly applied adhesive, making sure that the overlaps of the mesh are at least 10 cm long. The mesh should be positioned from the surface at least in 1/3 but not more than 1/2 of the layer thickness.
The reinforcing mortar which exits through the meshes of the grid is then levelled and smoothed after any replenishment. The total thickness of the applied reinforcing mortar with the inserted fibreglass mesh should be 3 to 5 mm.
  4. General information:
During the processing and drying of the material, the temperature of the surface and air must be between +5 °C and +25 °C. The facade should be protected from the impact of direct sunlight, strong winds and rain, e.g. with a facade protection net.
Application of facade primer should be performed after EnveoKleber Excellent is completely dry or, at the earliest, in 48h from the application of the final layer of the adhesive. All stated parameters refer to standard weather conditions: temperature 20 °C, relative humidity up to 65 %.

Tools

  • For mixing: electric mixer, mixing container.
  • For application: steel trowel, spatula.

Product consumption

EPS:

  • For adhesion approximately 3 - 4 kg/m², depending on the adhesive layer thickness, conditions during application and surface on which the thermal insulation boards are set.
  • For reinforcement mesh placement: approximately 4 - 5 kg/m², depending on adhesive layer thickness and conditions during application.

MW:

  • For adhesion approximately 4 - 5 kg/m², depending on the adhesive layer thickness, conditions during application and surface on which the thermal insulation boards are set.
  • For reinforcement mesh placement: approximately 5 - 6 kg/m², depending on adhesive layer thickness and conditions during application.
